Just to share my last mod:

I have finally found an oil stick with an temperature gauge I was looking at:

I use it during my week-end trip and never get higher than 80 -85 °C, but it was in the 20°C outside with lots of rain.

I found it on a German site : Link
Its ref 10034194 / RR 81 / YAM TDM 900. It was the closest to our oil stick dimensions.
I just add 2 marks with a metal wire to indicate lower and higher oil level.
Not so easy to look at when driving, but I found it useful.

By the way, any idea why can't I add link ?

Cheers.

I'm not sure what you are doing that doesn't let you add a link, but all you have to do is post the full URL including the http:// and the forum software will automatically make it a link within you post. Let me know if you have any trouble and I'll see what I can do to help.

The oil temp gauge you found not only looks great but serves a useful purpose
Does it have a threaded part that fits into original threads in the engine case, or does the stick have a "one size fits all" rubber seal?

It has a threaded part that is similar to the one on the stock oil deep stick.
(measured it with slide caliper to determined the diameter and thread shift).

Many thanks for info, will get such a gauge-stick for my winter project of installing oiltemp, oil pressure, and voltage indication. Was even thinking of water temp, all depends how long the winter will be . At the moment we still have some good riding days, so working on the bike have to wait.
